Verizon Communications (VZ), headquartered in New York is the second
largest telecom company in the US after AT&T. It was formed after
the merger of GTE and Bell Atlantic in the year 2000. The company has a
market cap of $143 billion and reported revenues of $115 billion in
FY12. The company operates under two main segments; Wireless and
Wireline.
Wireless contributes around 67% to the company’s total revenues. The
segment posted sales of $75 billion in FY12. The five-year annual growth
